URI receives $2 million for Sea Grant program

The U.S Department of Commerce has awarded more than $2 million to the University of Rhode Island. The funds, administered through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Finance and Administration, will be used by URI’s Sea Grant College program.

URI’s Sea Grant College program includes research projects related to understanding, predicting and improving water quality in Narragansett Bay and coastal lagoons, coastal management, and utilization and fisheries. Besides the research projects, these funds will be used for outreach and education projects.
