KINGSTOWN, R.I. — Richard J. Horn has been appointed executive director of the University of Rhode Island Transportation Center. Horn, the former executive director of the NAFTA Intermodal Transportation Institute at the National Aviation and Transportation Center in New York, will direct the center’s research and education efforts on transportation issues facing the state and region.
The center is presently funded by a six-year, $12 million matching grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Its current research program includes environmental monitoring and forecasting, transportation systems operations and management, and infrastructure materials and maintenance.
