The U.S. economy grew at a
4 percent annual rate from July through September, driven by
consumer spending that Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan
said is carrying the recovery.
The increase in gross domestic product, the total value of
all goods and services produced in the U.S., matched the Commerce
Department’s Nov. 26 estimate and was faster than the 1.3 percent
second-quarter pace.
