Warwick retail complex sells for $18.5M

WARWICK – The Summit Square shopping center on Bald Hill Road in Warwick has been sold for $18.5 million, the Boston-based seller’s broker, Cushman and Wakefield of Massachusetts, announced last week.

The buyer was identified only as Summit Square LP. Public records did not list the members of that partnership. The seller was Edens & Avant, a South Carolina company that owns more than 170 shopping centers along the East Coast, including others in Rhode Island.

Summit Square is a 133,800-square-foot shopping center that is currently 94 percent leased, the broker said, with tenants that include Staples, Pier 1 Imports, PetsMart, David’s Bridal, Chili’s and Modell’s Sporting Goods.

“Summit Square is a successful center in part, due to its diverse array of retailers that generate foot traffic across a broad spectrum,” said Geoff Millerd, senior director at Cushman & Wakefield, in a news release. “The center is home to a dominant rent roll and is situated in one of New England’s most coveted markets for both retailers and owners.”
