Washington Trust to open second Cranston branch

The Washington Trust Co., a Westerly-based bank, announced Thursday that it will open its 17th branch at 1195 Oaklawn Ave. in Cranston. The branch is Washington Trust’s second in Cranston; the bank also has a branch at 645 Reservoir Ave. in Cranston.

Groundbreaking is scheduled for late spring and the branch is expected to open in late 2006. The new 3,400-square-foot branch will be developed by Frank Paolino. It will be a full-service branch with three drive-through lanes and both a drive-up and walk-up ATM. Amenities in the branch will include flat-screen TVs in waiting areas and an ADA-compliant teller station.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of a second Washington Trust branch in Cranston,” said John C. Warren, chairman and CEO of Washington Trust, in a statement. “Washington Trust has had tremendous growth in central Rhode Island, and this branch supports our plans to grow in this key market area.”
