Rhode Island-based Internet appliance infrastructure company WebMachines today announced the addition of a new Unified Messaging Server to its iaNetwork server family. This new server is the latest enhancement to the Company’s iaNetwork suite of managed servers that support next generation Internet-enabled devices such as web terminals, wireless devices, and digital televisions.
The Unified Messaging Server provides full-featured real-time chat and instant messaging to a variety of online communities. The new service is available to embedded devices “Powered by WebMachines”. The service is available to any device “Powered by WebMachines”.

Most notably, the Unified Messaging Server boasts the ability to facilitate instant message communications between widely popular yet previously incompatible “IM” services such as AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), Microsoft’s MSN Messenger, Yahoo Pager, ICQ and others. It also supports filtering of instant communications to help ensure messaging is both family- safe and business-appropriate.
The new service will be available to non-PC Internet devices running the Company’s embedded iaClient software. iaClient is available on a variety of embedded operating systems including Linux, QNX, and WinCE.
