West Warwick company gets award in San Diego

West Warwick-based e-tel corporation’s FreeRide Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone was chosen as best of show at the recent Internet Telephony Conference & Expo in San Diego.

Award winners were chosen by a panel of judges composed of editors from Internet Telephony, Communications ASP, and Communications Solutions magazines.

Winners will be featured in the December issue of Internet Telephony Magazine.

“I am excited that our IP phone has been recognized as one of the best in the industry by such an esteemed group of judges,” said Matt Lukens, e-tel president and chief executive officer. “We take great pride in having brought the first standards based IP telephones to the market last year, and we are committed to continuing the development of IP innovations that extend the boundaries of this technology. Even now, our upcoming products stand to push the technology even further.”

“e-tel and its FreeRide phones made an outstanding impression in the exhibit hall, an impression that reflects their contributions to, and leadership position in, the Internet telephony industry,” said Rich Tehrani, chairman of the Internet Telephony Conference & Expo. “We applaud their efforts and are very proud to award them the Best of Internet Telephony Conference & Expo Fall 2000.”

Judging was based on a company’s overall contributions to the Internet telephony industry, with an emphasis on technologic innovation and product feature. Editors from Internet Telephony, Communications ASP and Communications Solutions magazines met with exhibitors and tried out new products, noting the very best of the Internet Telephony Conference & Expo 2000.

e-tel’s line of IP telephones and gateways include a single line IP phone, a multi-line executive IP phone and multi-line desktop IP gateways that are engineered to IP enable traditional analog phones, while leaving an existing communications system intact.
