PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island director of health has approved Westerly Hospital’s
proposal to open a Cardiac Catheterization Unit as part of the hospital’s $18
million capital development. The director, Dr. Patricia A. Nolan approved the
addition based on the recommendation of the R.I. Health Services Council and because
the hospital “demonstrated overwhelming community support for the service as well
as for upgrading the emergency department, inpatient and outpatient facilities.”
Dr. Nolan also cited the hospital’s very solid agreement with Yale New Haven Hospital
to assure quality health services to the community.”
