Wis. firm to run Mass. Medicaid dental services

Doral Dental USA, one of the nation’s largest multistate-administrators of government dental benefits said in a Business Wire news release that it has received the subcontract to administer the dental program for MassHealth, the Mass. Medicaid program.

The state-managed MassHealth program covers both children and adults; 1 million patient currently are enrolled.

Mequon, Wis.-based Doral said it secured the subcontract from Dental Service of Massachusetts (DSM), which was selected by the state to implement the MassHealth program for a three year period, with options to renew for up to a total of six years.

“DSM is honored that Massachusetts has selected us to administer its Medicaid dental program,” said Kathy O’Loughlin, president and CEO of Dental Services of Massachusetts. “We are looking forward to working with Doral, which is nationally recognized as a leader in expanding access to oral health care for low-income citizens.”

After a four-month implementation period, Doral will begin administering the MassHealth dental program on Dec. 1. Under its subcontract with DSM, Doral will provide claims processing, dental provider network development, provider and member relations and utilization management services.

“Since our founding in 1993, Doral has focused on affordably and efficiently administering dental benefit programs that expand access to high quality care for low-income Americans enrolled in public programs,” said Doral President Steven J. Pollock.

Doral recently won contracts to administer the managed-care-based statewide dental programs in Georgia and Ohio. It also holds direct contracts with the states of Tennessee and Virginia to administer dental programs there.
