Former WorldCom Inc. officials Scott D. Sullivan and David Myers surrendered to federal
authorities to face criminal charges in the accounting scandal
that triggered the largest U.S. bankruptcy in history.
The charges against Chief Financial Officer Sullivan and
Myers, the controller, would be the first in the Justice
Department’s investigation of WorldCom. The second-biggest U.S.
long-distance company, which revealed June 25 that it misstated
more than $3.85 billion in expenses, has lost more than $100
billion in market value.

Sullivan and Myers surrendered to Federal Bureau of
Investigation officials at 7 a.m. New York City time and are in
custody in New York City, said FBI spokesman James Margolin.
