PROVIDENCE – Restaurant-management platform Upserve last week introduced Upserve Online Ordering, a newly integrated function of Upserve’s point-of-sale system that lets restaurateurs offer online ordering for customers through a single, streamlined interface.
In a recent survey of 520 U.S. consumers, Upserve found that 71 percent of respondents considered a restaurant’s takeout or delivery options when deciding whether or not to return, and 22 percent said it was one of the top three factors they considered.

Restaurants that do offer online ordering have reported as much as a 30 percent boost in revenue, Upserve said, but many restaurants have avoided jumping on the bandwagon because of the expense and complication of maintaining multiple ordering systems and separate menus.
With the new Upserve Online Ordering solution – fully integrated with Upserve’s Breadcrumb POS and included at no extra cost with an Upserve Pro subscription – restaurants can give customers the option to order food online without having to invest in any additional technology.
“Upserve Online Ordering is built for both the diner and the restaurant, and is optimized to encourage ‘regulars’ with integrated loyalty programs and repeat ordering features,” said Angus Davis, founder and CEO of Upserve, in a statement. “Gone are the extra steps of manually transcribing orders into the point of sale, updating multiple menus across online platforms, or paying hefty commissions for the privilege of welcoming back a loyal customer.”
Upserve Online Ordering charges no per-order fees or commissions, and all payments are settled the next day via Upserve Payments, in the same consolidated batch as regular restaurant sales.
Upserve also allows restaurateurs to update and manage menus from a single interface, which syncs menu changes automatically with Upserve Online Ordering and all third-party ordering platforms integrated with Upserve through Upserve Marketplace.
The Marketplace launched in March as a “one-stop shop” for restaurant-technology solutions and a network of Upserve’s integrated third-party partners. Alongside the announcement of Upserve Online Ordering, the company also announced several online-ordering platforms as Marketplace partners, adding Menufy, Chowly and Open Dining to a list that already included Grubhub and Seamless.
“Distribution via third-party online ordering networks can help restaurants acquire new customers,” stated Upserve in a Sept. 27 release. “Restaurants using these systems can manage all of their orders, both in-house and takeout, from Upserve HQ. These integrations allow restaurants to staff more efficiently, save time on menu updates, consolidate faster payments and free space on the crowded bar or host counter.”
Upserve Online Ordering and Upserve Marketplace are the newest integrated functions of the Upserve management suite, which also includes the cloud-based Breadcrumb POS, Upserve HQ for analytics, Upserve Payments for processing, and Upserve Live for mobile restaurant management.
Headquartered in Providence, with additional offices in New York and San Francisco, Upserve manages more than $11 billion in annual restaurant sales and serves more than 32 million active diners worldwide. For more information, visit www.upserve.com.
