Whole Foods to give 5% of sales today to shelter

PROVIDENCE – The Whole Foods supermarket at 601 North Main St. has announced that 5 percent of all sales made at the store between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, will be donated to the Sojourner House.

In addition, Whole Foods said, during the lunch and dinner shopping hours on Tuesday, Sojourner House employees will be available at the store to provide information on domestic violence.

Sojourner House is one of six member agencies of the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The coalition provides comprehensive services to families affected by domestic violence, including an emergency safe house, a 24-hour help line, court advocacy, counseling, support groups, children’s programs, and community outreach, awareness and prevention programs.
