Fall River boardwalk expansion secured

The State of Massachusetts has agreed to help fund the 3,700 foot expansion of Fall River’s waterfront boardwalk. The board will skirt the riverbank from Heritage Park to the Bicentennial Park increasing public access to the waterfront by a mile. The Massachusetts Seaport Advisory Council, Governor Jane Swift’s administrative panel for coordinating seaport policy and development, awarded Fall River $2.2 million for the boardwalk expansion.

“I am very pleased that my administration is partnering with the city on this very important capital investment,” Swift said. “The expansion of the boardwalk ensures the continued economic growth and vitality of Fall River building upon its historic commercial, recreational and tourism based maritime traditions.”
