SOMERSET – James D. Carey, president and CEO of Slade’s Ferry Bank, recently announced his retirement. Carey also serves as executive vice president of Slade’s Ferry Bancorp. He will leave the company on March 29.
Carey started his banking career 40 years ago, as a teller. He became bank president and CEO in 1988. At that time, the bank’s assets was $113 million and Slade’s had six locations. The bank finished 2001 with approximately $400 million in assets and 11 branches, plus a limited service high school location.
Carey has been active in the community, serving on many boards and foundations.
