John Hazen White Sr., who passed away last week at the age of 87, left a sterling legacy in this community as a superb businessman, philanthropist, and political reformer, while never losing site of the importance of family. He possessed the energy of a man less than half his age, and values that few in society can attain. His family’s business, Taco, Inc. calls Rhode Island its home, and with an intense pride in the state White fought fervently to instill values of good government in our political structure through his Red Alert, and the values of a superior quality of life in his support of so many institutions in this state, from our educational centers to the Rhode Island Philharmonic. He will be missed.
