AAA: Gas prices jump 3 cents

High crude oil prices and supply chain disruptions caused by Hurricane Ivan are being cited by analysts as the main reasons the average price of gasoline has risen nationally, and price increases have also been found in Rhode Island, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s weekly survey of prices in Rhode Island found self serve, regular unleaded averaging $1.929 per gallon, three cents more than last week. It is the first time that prices locally have increased more than one cent in any week since late May. A year ago at this time the average price was $1.779.
