HARTFORD – Health insurer Aetna has asked Connecticut regulators to be allowed to decrease the premiums on nearly 10,000 insurance policies it holds in the state, according to the Hartford Business Journal.
The company is asking for an average decrease of 10 percent on its Comprehensive Medical Expense and Limited Medical Expense plans, include 9,745 policies. Aetna wants the revision because medical costs are less than it expected, and “for rebate purposes as it complies with the minimum loss ratio requirements of federal health care reform,” according to HBJ.
