AG implements high tech crime fighting tools

PROVIDENCE — Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse has announced that the Rhode
Island Department of the Attorney General is now on-line with the FBI’s Interstate
Identification Index, a high tech cooperative federal and state system which provides
immediate access to the criminal history records of over 38 million people. Any
person arrested for a felony or serious misdemeanor, under either federal or state
law, is included in the system. The system is capable of retrieving an automated
response in seconds of all interstate, federal and state requests for criminal
background information.
