Alison L. Croke has been in the health care field for nearly a dozen years, since graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a master’s degree in health administration.
She has published numerous articles based on her experiences. In fact, her expertise is so well-recognized that she is an advisory board member for the Medicaid Managed Care Congress, and regularly presents papers at its meetings.
Her interest in Medicaid services began at the Center for Health Care Strategies in New Jersey, where she worked for four years following graduate school, eventually becoming a program officer producing a collection of best practices for the care of special needs children, along with participating in a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation that focused on creating care systems for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
At that point, the St. Mary Academy Bay View alumna returned to the region as a senior project manager for Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, the community health care-focused organization, with numerous responsibilities, including reducing medical expenses, maintaining benefits packages for a number of product lines and assisting with National Committee for Quality Assurance accreditation.
Her experience in the community helped Croke make the move to Affliated Computer Systems, a state contractor, where she now helps develop and monitor public health programs for patients in RIte Care, the state’s Medicaid managed care program. In addition, she has become the team leader for developing and implementing a managed care product for adults with disabilities.
In what little spare time she has, Croke is a member of St. Mary’s Alumnae Advisory Board and is president-elect for the Junior League of Rhode Island, among other positions. &#8226
