NEWPORT – Amica Insurance Tall Ships Rhode Island 2007 Thursday announced the final lineup for the festival, and said three more class-A vessels have joined, bringing the total to 22 Tall Ships from around the world.
Friday, festival organizers celebrated several new sponsors – BankNewport; Verizon; Cardi’s; Citadel Broadcasting Corp.; Marriott Hotel; Van Liew Trust Co; Booz, Allen & Hamilton; Newport Collaborative Architects; Princeton Group; and Vareika Fine Arts – and their event’s new, larger headquarters at 71 Long Wharf, on Newport Harbor, with an 11:15 a.m. ribbon-cutting.

The latest ships to sign on for the event are the Gloria, a 249-foot barque from Colombia; the Prince William, a 195-foot brig from London; and the Dewa Ruci, a 191-foot barque from Indonesia.
The other 19 Tall Ships are the Harvey Gamage from Watch Hill; the Providence from Providence; the Poincare, the Formidable and the Spirit of Massachusetts, all from Boston; the Alabama from Martha’s Vineyard; the Friendship from Salem, Mass.; the Bowdoin from Castline, Maine; the Pride of Baltimore II from Baltimore; the Virginia from Norfolk, Va.; the Royaliste from San Francisco, Calif.; the Fair Jeanne and the Bluenose II, both from Canada; the Spirit of Bermuda from Bermuda; the Cisne Branco from Brazil; the Urania from the Netherlands; the Gorch Fock II from Germany; the Picton Castle from the Cook Islands, New Zealand; and the Tarangini from India.
The festival, slated for June 27 through July 1, is the only Tall Ships event planned in New England this summer, organizers said. It will feature free visits to the participating ships, a crew and cadet parade, an International Village, tot and teen programs, a black-tie ball, fireworks and a July 1 Parade of Sail.
