Armeather Gibbs has been named chief operating officer at United Way of Rhode Island, located in Providence, effective Jan. 1, 2005. She has been senior vice president at Fleet Bank – Rhode Island and director of community development since 2000. Gibbs is a graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island. She has been very active in the community during her 30-year career, serving on board, committees and advisory groups. She lives in Providence.
