Art Technology first quarter loss widened

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (Bloomberg) — Art Technology Group Inc., whose software helps
run Internet-commerce sites, said its first-quarter loss was wider than expected
and sales were a third less than forecast. The first-quarter loss was 19 cents
to 22 cents a share, growing from 1 cent a year ago, the company said. Art Technology
was expected to earn 9 cents, the average estimate of analysts surveyed by First
Call/Thomson Financial. Sales were $40 million to $42 million, based on preliminary
figures, the company said. The Cambridge, Mass.-based company was expected
to have sales of $67.5 million, the average estimate of three analysts polled
by IBES International Inc.
