Bank of Newport elects Salve president trustee

NEWPORT – The Bank of Newport has elected the president of Salve Regina University, M. Theresa Antone, RSM, a trustee of the bank. Sister Theresa has been president of the university since 1994. She is also a professor of mathematics and management. A native Rhode Islander, Sister Theresa has her undergraduate degree from Salve, a master’s in mathematics from Villanova, and her doctorate of education in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University. She began her teaching career in a high school in New Bedford, moved to Bishop Feehan High School where she eventually became principal, then joined the faculty at Salve. She has served in various financial and executive positions for the university as well as the Religious Sisters of Mercy.
