Bank of Newport Insurance Services purchases insurance agencies

Bank of Newport yesterday announced that its subsidiary, Bank of Newport Insurance Services, has acquired two insurance agencies, Meredith and Clarke, Inc. of Jamestown and Messinger Insurance Agency, LLC of Middletown



Meredith and Clarke will remain at its present office, offering commercial and personal insurance services, including property and casualty, life and health insurance. Bank of Newport also operates a full service bank branch and Jamestown, across the street from Meredith and Clarke.



Messinger Insurance will merge its operations into Bank of Newport Insurance Services at its main office on Valley Road in Middletown.



“We are proceeding with plans to make insurance products more accessible to our customers by opening additional offices to meet their needs locally, just as we have with the branch system of the Bank,” said John H. Ellis, president of Bank of Newport.
