Beauchesne to lead?R.I. Philharmonic

EAST PROVIDENCE – The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School has named David Beauchesne, previously its director of education and community partnerships, to serve as its executive director. He replaces David M. Wax, whose seven-year tenure ended this year.
“I am honored by the board’s decision and excited by the work that lies ahead,” Beauchesne said. He has been overseeing the creation of the orchestra and music school’s new headquarters at the former Meeting Street School, where the office staff moved in last year. The project is slated for completion this fall.
Previously the associate director of Georgia State University’s Center for Educational Partnerships in Music, Beauchesne also has worked at Georgia State and the Eastman School of Music at Rochester University and played with the Montreal and Chautauqua symphonies. •
