Blue Cross grows as rivals fade

BOSTON — Blue Cross and Blue Shield grew by about 70,000 enrollees during last fall’s open enrollment to almost 2.3 million. That compares with Harvard Pilgrim’s 820,000 members. Two years ago, Harvard Pilgrim had the largest enrollment in the state. Meanwhile Tufts Medical Plan held steady at 911,000 according to the Boston Globe. Over the year, Blue Cross was reported to added 460,000 members.
