BOSTON (Bloomberg) — New York Times Co.’s Boston Globe newspaper named Martin
Baron as editor, replacing Matthew Storin, who is retiring at the end of the month.
Baron, 46, has been executive editor of Knight Ridder Inc.’s Miami Herald since
1999, the Globe said in a statement. His appointment is effective July 30. Storin
has been the Globe’s editor since March 1993, the paper said. Under Baron, the
Herald won a Pulitzer Prize this year for breaking news reporting. His first job
in journalism was as a reporter for the Miami Herald in 1976. He moved to the
Los Angeles Times in 1979, where he became business editor and assistant managing
editor, and moved to the New York Times in 1996. The next year, Baron became the
Times’ associate managing editor for nighttime news. He is a graduate of Lehigh
University.
