As the vice president of business development for Rumford-based New England Construction, Brendan C. Kane has helped triple the company’s annual revenue from $20 million to $60 million in just three years. Kane is responsible for day-to-day oversight of the company’s sales, marketing and branding.
Kane created the firm’s business plan, worked on establishing its business model, and also devised and implemented the business’ sales process. Since 2005, he has been a member of the company’s advisory board, and a year later he also joined the executive management team. He also manages a collection of more than 1,500 network partners and clients.
Prior to joining New England Construction, Kane worked in retail car service sales and operations, most recently at Hertz, where he increased sales in his nine-state territory by 300 percent from 2002 to 2004. Kane and his four associates also landed a number of major clients, including Amica, MetLife, Arbella, and Progressive Insurance. He also developed Hertz’s national model for sales associate training and customer relations. The company recognized Kane’s work with nine awards, including the President’s Award in 2003 and 2004. Before working at Hertz, Kane worked as a sales associate for Aventis Pharmaceuticals, where he twice received the Innovator of the Year award.
A University of Rhode Island graduate, Kane is also involved in the community. In 2006, he coordinated the Jamestown Penguin Club’s New Year’s Day swim, which raises nearly $100,000 annually for the Rhode Island Special Olympics. He is also a foundation board member of Thundermist Health Care and a member of the Bannister House Board. •
