Mulhearn named to new position at RITC
Thomas E. Mulhearn has been named as the first full-time executive director of The Rhode Island Technology Council. He will be responsible for establishing the RITC as the information technology sector’s proactive resource for business and workforce development. Previously, the Warwick resident served as the executive vice president of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors. His duties included directing and managing the transition from paper-based systems to computer information services for over 520 real estate offices in Southeastern New England. Additional accomplishments included integrating computer curriculum into real estate training and passage of legislation that protected the rights of property owners.
Boston computer dealer opening second office
Schneider Leasing Company, the 15 year old Boston-based computer equipment dealer and specialty leasing company, announced the opening of its second location in Providence. SLC provides businesses throughout New England with computer rentals, equipment leases, sales and technical support. The new location on Angell Street opens next Monday.

AMP certifies ESL-NS as Network designer & installer
AMP Incorporated of Winston-Salem, NC has certified Cranston’s Electro Standards Laboratories-Network Services division as an AMP Network designer and installer. The certification program provides benefits for ESL-NS’s cabling systems customers, including a 15-year performance warranty. Andon wins EEPN award
Andon Electronics has been identified in the EE Product News’ fourth annual Products of the Year assessment. The company’s BGA sockets and adapters with concave heads permit efficient insertion and extraction of semiconductors without risk of damage to either the semiconductor or PC board loaded with components. The packages utilize solder balls or bumps, providing twice the connection density of a comparably sized PGA device.
Stephen Petrarca
Astro-Med names Petrarca VP of manufacturing
Stephen Petrarca has been appointed to the post of vice president of manufacturing at Astro Med, Inc. He will oversee and direct the expanding facilities at AM’s World Headquarters in West Warwick. He has been employed with the company, which manufactures specialty printers, data acquisition systems, medical instrumentation, label printing systems and related software for over 18 years, most recently as a manufacturing manager. Prior to that, he served as operations manager of the Grass Instrument Division at the Braintree, Mass. facility.
JVR Communications adds IPTech
East Providence public relations firm JVR Communications has been chosen by Information Presentation Technologies to be their public relations agency of record. IPTech, a California-based provider of pre-press productivity software and cross platform network integration products for client server computing, will have JVR implement a media relations program, and develop and distribute product and company news announcements.

A new face at Windmoeller & Hoelscher
Jim Ciolino is the newest member of Windmoeller & Hoelscher. He is currently spending time at the company headquarters in Germany to get an overview of W & H equipment. Soon he will arrive at the company’s Lincoln offices, where he will work to promote advanced extrusion technology. He has had experience in the area of sales and marketing of LLDPE stretch film from the positions he has held with Amtopp Corporation for the past four years. He holds a bachelor of arts degree from Westfield State College.
