Joseph R. Swift
Joseph R. Swift was appointed president and a member of the board of directors of Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. He previously served as director of the cemetery, and is currently vice president of the State of Rhode Island Cemetery Association and chairman of its legislative committee. Swift began his career in the cemetery industry 25 years ago as executive director for the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. For the next 17 years, he was a consultant for cemeteries in twenty-two states. He is a resident of Johnston.

Denis R. Beique
Denis R. Beique has been promoted to project executive for Gilbane Building Company’s New England region. He will oversee projects, and monitor cost, schedule, manpower and quality. After joining Gilbane in 1985, he worked successively as area superintendent, estimator, project superintendent, project manager, and most recently, senior project manager. He is a Cranston resident and holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

Robin L. Erickson
Robin L. Erickson has been appointed alumni relations manager at the office of alumni relations at Roger Williams University. Her duties will include managing various alumni events and functions while working closely with the director of alumni relations. She previously served as campaign manager at the Leukemia Society of America in Cranston. She also worked for Volunteers in Service to America at the Feinstein Foundation in Cranston. Erickson earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Providence College, where she served as editor-in-chief for the Friars Club Newsletter and assistant news editor for The Cowl.

Judy Silva
Providence native Judy Silva has joined Cirelli Foods as a sales consultant for the Fall River/New Bedford region. Prior to joining the company she spent twenty years overseeing menu planning, design and purchasing for the airline industry. Most recently she worked for a Pennsylvania-based management company that specializes in college food services. Silva holds a bachelor’s degree in institutional food service from California State University in Los Angeles.
Thomas Cranshaw was honored as being in the top one percent of McDonald’s managers in the nation to receive the Ray Kroc award. As a recipient of the award he receives a $2,500 cash award, a Ray Kroc trophy and an awards banquet held in his honor, hosted by Alan Feldman, president of McDonalds USA at McDonald’s corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois.

Naurice Bermon, MD
Naurice Bermon, MD was recently named chief of psychiatry at Landmark Medical Center. A graduate of Tufts University Medical School, Dr. Bermon completed an internship in medicine at Boston City Hospital, a residency in psychiatry at Cambridge Hospital, and a fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Adams House Clinic, Faulkner Hospital in Jamaica Plain, Mass. He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Prior to joining Landmark, Dr. Bermon practiced with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England for 23 years.
James P. Crowley, MD
James P. Crowley, MD has been appointed chief of the Memorial Hospital’s division of hematology and oncology. Dr. Crowley will also serve as director of Mem-orial’s cancer center and immunology center, which will be built on the Hospital campus later this year. A graduate of Providence College, Brown University and Georgetown University, Dr. Crowley has served as director of clinical hematology at the Meehan Memorial Research Unit at Rhode Island Hospital for nine years. A retired U.S. Navy Captain, he is a professor of medicine at Brown University School of Medicine.
JEWELRY
Jack McDevitt
Jack McDevitt has been hired as vice president of retail operations for Ross-Simons. In his new position he will oversee the retail operations of Ross-Simons stores nationwide. He will report to Robert Simone, the chief operating officer. Working in the jewelry industry for over 30 years, McDevitt most recently served as the president of Schwarzschild Jewelers in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to that he was mid-west regional manager of Bailey Banks & Biddle, a division of Zale Corporation. McDevitt received his bachelor’s degree from Westchester State University in Pennsylvania. He also holds a diamond grading and evaluation certificate from the Gemological Institute of America.
Michael Kachadourian
Michael Kachadourian has been appointed vice president and national sales manager of Advanced Chemical Company of Warwick. He has been with Advanced Chemical since 1988. Kachadourian will be responsible for building a national sales force for the precious metal electroplating chemistry and precious metal refining divisions of Advanced Chemical. Prior to joining the company, he was sales manager for Technic, Inc. He is a native of Johnston, and a certified electro-finisher and member of the American Electroplaters Society.

Robert Weitzel
Robert Weitzel has been named appraisal services manager of Equity Title & Closing Services, Inc. Coming from Fleet Mortgage, where he had been since 1992, he will head the new department at Equity. A member of the Rhode Island Association of Mortgage Underwriters, Weitzel has served in many appraisal-related capacities. He is a Narragansett resident.
Paul E. Everton has recently joined GT Funding Corporation as senior residential loan officer. In this new position Everton will focus on FHA, conforming and non-conforming mortgages for purchases and refinancing. He is a resident of Riverside.
