John Lynch
John “Jake” Lynch has attended the AICPA’s (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) National Business Valuation Conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference focused on issues of business valuation and tax implications and featured as guest speaker Judge David Laro of the United States Tax Court. Lynch is a principal at the CPA firm Needel, Welch & Stone, P.C. He earned his master’s degree in taxation from Bentley College and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Suffolk University. He is a resident of Weymouth, Mass.

Gregory F. O’Donnell
Gregory F. O’Donnell has joined First Federal Savings Bank of America (FIRSTFED) a vice president in business banking. He will be responsible for developing new business and servicing customers at FIRSTFED’s downtown Fall River office. O’Donnell was formerly employed by FleetBoston as assistant vice president. He earned his bachelor’s at UMass Lowell and his master’s in business administration at Salem State College. He is the chair-elect of Junior Achievement of Southern Massachusetts, a board member of both the YMCA of Greater Fall River and Community Development Re-Creation and a member of SEED Corporation. He resides in Fall River with his wife.

Joseph J. Healy has been appointed vice president of Van Liew Trust Company of Providence. He has been with the company since 1992 and will be responsible for the management, marketing and administration of the Ocean State Tax Exempt Fund as well as overseeing the firm’s trading compliance practices as executive representative of the NASD. Healy has a bachelor’s degree from Boston College in finance and marketing and holds NASD series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses.

David K. McClure has been appointed branch manager at People’s Credit Union. He will be responsible for managing operations at the credit union’s Friendship Street office. McClure joined the company’s management trainee program in 2000. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Bryant College. Melissa Rollenhagen has been promoted to program associate at Firebrand LLC in Providence. She will be responsible for providing market research and analysis for clients and managing multiple client-related projects for the firm. She joined Firebrand in 1998 after receiving an undergraduate degree in sociology from Brown University.

Adam Harvery
Adam Harvey has been appointed IT manager of the Providence/RI International Film Festival (RIIFF). His responsibilities include all of the network administration including maintaining and updating the Web site for the Film Festival. Harvey is the IT director for the graphic design firm Gladworks in Lincoln, where he handles all of the computer clients, acting as webmaster for all of their sites. He is a graduate of Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio with a degree in computer information systems.

Robert S. Brustlin
Robert S. Brustlin, P.E. has been elected president and chief executive officer of VHB/Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. of Providence. He has been with the engineering, planning and applied sciences firm since it was founded in 1979. A principal and member of VHB’s board of directors, he most recently served as chief operating officer. Brustlin graduated from Brown University with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering and a bachelor of arts in engineering economics. He received his master’s in landscape architecture from Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts, California, Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire.

Barry W. Dunn
Barry W. Dunn of Middletown, RI has been named manager of costs and budgets at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, Mass. His responsibilities will include working to implement the hospital’s decision support system and manage the annual budget process. He previously served as senior financial analyst for Lifespan Corporation and has served in leadership roles at McLaughlin Research Corporation and Raytheon Corporation. Dunn graduated from Bryant College with a degree in finance and earned his master’s in business administration there as well. He is a resident of Middletown.
Kimberly Lavoie
Kimberly Lavoie has been named president of the Association of Rhode Island Health Science Librarians (ARI-HSL) at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She previously served as vice president/president-elect of ARIHSL. Lavoie is a graduate of Simmons College, Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences and is a member of the Medical Library Association.

Chris Smith has been elected president of the Providence Toastmaster’s Organization. Toastmaster is a public speaking organization committed to enhancing the public speaking skills of its members. Smith is a full time financial advisor for Prudential Securities Incorporated in Providence.
