PROVIDENCE — State Rep. David N. Cicilline, D-Dist. 4 of Providence has introduced legislation to create a nine-member Sunset Oversight Commission which would review various commissions, boards agencies, authorities and corporations of state government to determine whether they are performing efficiently and effectively. Cicilline’s commission would not include elected or appointed officials or anyone who had held such a post for the previous year. Each January the commission would submit a report to the General Assembly recommending which agencies and boards should be abolished, continued or reorganized.
