A U.S. federal court decided that pop-up advertisements don’t infringe the copyright or trademark
rights of the Web sites they appear on, the New York Times
reported today.
U-Haul’s claim that ads delivered by WhenU.com, an online
advertising company, violated federal copyright and trademark
laws was turned down last week by Judge Gerald Bruce Lee of the
Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the
newspaper said.
