The application creates a “second-screen experience” where Cox Communications customers can watch live television programming in their home on their mobile device.

“Cox is continuing to expand television viewing options for our customers, particularly with ‘off-TV’ experience,” Doreen Studley, vice president of marketing at Cox Northeast, said in prepared remarks. “The new enhancements to TV Connect give customers the choice and flexibility to watch their favorite programming anywhere in their home, without a TV.”

The new channel lineup adds 56 new cable channels including Bio, Encore, Fox Business Network, Galavision, G4, Hallmark Movie Channel, Oxygen, Sprout and Tennis Channel, bringing the total to more than 90 available channels.

According to the release, in addition to being able to use the application on more devices, Cox customers can also schedule DVR recordings remotely.

The Cox TV Connect app is available at no additional charge in the Apple App Store to customers who have Cox TV Essential or Advanced TV and have Cox Preferred, Premier or Ultimate Internet service.
