WOONSOCKET, R.I.– Pharmacy giant CVS Corp. said it saw same-store sales increase 9.6 percent, and same-store pharmacy sales increase 14.6 percent, for the five weeks ended March 31, compared to the same period a year ago.
Total sales, which include same-store sales as well as sales for stores open less than a year, increased 12 percent to $2.06 billion, compared to $1.84 billion during the same period a year ago. Total pharmacy sales accounted for 68 percent of total company sales in March, CVS said.

For the year-to-date period, same store sales increased 11.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Pharmacy sales for the period increased 17.6 percent. Total sales for the period increased 13.6 percent to $5.39 billion, compared to $4.74 billion in the year-ago time frame.
