PROVIDENCE – Days before the launch of the fourth annual DesignxRI Design Week, three local designers were named Rhode Island Design Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement honorees, the nonprofit economic development firm announced Tuesday.

The nominees are RISD President, woodworker and furniture designer Rosanne Somerson, architect, teacher and 3SIXØ Architecture founding principal Chris Bardt as well as Kyna Leski, a designer artist teacher, writer and also a founding principal of 3SIXØ Architecture.

The Hall of Fame’s Lifetime Achievement award recognizes individuals with more than 25 years in their respective design fields who have proven a true commitment to the industry in Rhode Island. Somerson, Bardt and Leski were chosen by independent jury basedon their “demonstration of superior design quality, leadership and impact” according to the release.

On September 21 the trio will be celebrated at a 6:00 p.m. event at the Waterfire building in Providence during the final days of Design Week, co-hosted by Brooke Lee, co-chair of the RI Design Hall of Fame party host committee, and DesignxRI board member Louis Raymond.
