The average cost of regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island continued its downward trend that began in early September, when it reached an all-time high of $3.243 per gallon, according to AAA Southern New England.
The regional division of the national auto club reported that the average price in the state fell 4 cents between Oct. 2 and Oct. 11, from $2.859 per gallon to $2.819 per gallon.

Diesel fuel, however, increased in price for the third consecutive week in Rhode Island, jumping 11 cents to $2.999 per gallon between Oct. 2 and Oct. 11, according to AAA surveys.
AAA reported Aug. 12 that the national average price of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.854 per gallon.
