EMC Insurance deploys Mercator Web services

Mercator Software, Inc. today announced that EMC Insurance Companies is deploying Mercator Web services in conjunction with Mercator Integration Broker technology to help it streamline business processes and reduce costs, according to a press statement distributed by Business Wire. With assets over $2.4 billion, EMC Insurance Companies market property, casualty and life insurance products on a U.S. multi-regional basis with emphasis in the Midwest.

EMC Insurance Companies will initially be leveraging Mercator Web services to speed the delivery of timely coverage information to Alliance Claims Solutions, one of the insurer’s largest trading partners.

“In the past, we had to send Alliance Claims Solutions our entire database of policy information to confirm a single client’s coverage and deductible before processing a claim,” stated Richard L. Gass, vice president of information systems at EMC Insurance Companies. “It was a costly and time-consuming process, and we would have to resend the database every time a policy was renewed or a new customer was added to the database.
