EMC wins court order against former employee

EMC Corp., the largest maker of data-storage systems, won a court order this week barring a former employee from serving as chief executive of rival SANgate Systems for nine months, Cnet.com reported.

Doron Kempel, chief executive of SANgate, resigned earlier this week after a judge issued a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit filed by EMC, which accused Kempel of violating the terms of his employment contract.

Kempel was formerly general manager of Hopkington, Mass.-based EMC’s media solutions group.

SANgate has elected not to pursue an appeal, Cnet.com said, citing SANgate spokeswoman Beth Winkowski. She said the appeal process would take too long and the closely held company based in Southborough, Mass. would begin searching for a new leader.
