Eurocopter SA, the helicopter unit of

figures from Forecast International.

The world’s second-largest helicopter company, Providence-based Textron
Inc.’s Bell Helicopters unit, had 17 percent of the market. Bell

EADS, Textron and United Technologies Corp., which owns
Sikorsky, the other main U.S. helicopter maker, don’t break out
detailed profit numbers for their helicopter businesses. Hans-
Peter Ring, EADS’s chief financial officer, said Eurocopter is
“significantly profitable,” but needs three more years to reach
his target return of 10 percent earnings before interest and
taxes, the Journal reported.

In 2002, for the second year in succession, Eurocopter beat
Bell for orders in the U.S., which accounts for a third of the
global market for non-military helicopters, the paper said.
