PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) today named Carol Malysz of Providence to receive its 2006 Canon Businesswoman of the Year Award.
Each year, the prestigious award recognizes an EWGA member who has demonstrated exemplary business leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen, through utilizing innovative skills and technology, in achieving success both on and off the golf course. This year is the fourth that Canon USA, a supporting partner of the EWGA, has sponsored the award.

Malysz will be honored Saturday evening, during the awards dinner at EWGA’s annual conference, which is being held Nov. 2 to 4 at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens.
As the director of the Rhode Island Center for Women & Enterprise (www.cweonline.org), Malysz has helped her clients to secure more than $16 million in financing and trained and has counseled more than 5,500 women.
Before founding CWE-Rhode Island 7 years ago, she led the start-up of the R.I. Economic Development Corporation’s Business Expansion Division, to provide account management services to 25,000 Rhode Island businesses.
Her most recent start-up is the Rhode Island chapter of the EWGA, which she founded in 2005.
Malysz serves as the president of the EWGA’s Rhode Island chapter, and in July, organized volunteers for fundraising events the EWGA Foundation held in conjunction with the U.S. Women’s Open in Newport. She has been appointed to serve as a member representative on the finance committee of the EWGA board in 2007.
Her previous honors include recognition by the U.S. Small Business Administration, as the SBA’s Rhode Island “Women in Business” Advocate of the Year, and her naming as a Rhode Island Commodore in 2003.
Malysz holds an MBA in entrepreneurship from Babson College, in Wellesley, Mass., and is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership.
The Executive Women’s Golf Association – founded in 1991, and based in Palm Beach Gardens – is dedicated to providing opportunities for women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf, for business and for life.
