The House Oversight Commission to study the impacts of the fire safety code law enacted by the General Assembly last year will meet Friday to continue its review of the impact and implementation of the new law.
Chaired by Rep. Joseph A. Trillo of Warwick, the commission will meet at noon in Room 135 of the State House. Invited to testify at the meeting are representatives of the state’s hospitality industry, members of the Rhode Island Realtors Association and other real estate experts as well as representatives of several historical societies and the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence. Officials from the State Fire Marshal’s office are expected to attend.

It will be the second meeting of the commission, which was created by the House of Representatives to ensure that the new fire safety law is being implemented properly in a timely fashion and to determine any unexpected negative impacts of the law on individual property owners or building managers.
