PAWTUCKET – Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island last week showed off the latest addition to its radiology department: a 64-slice CT scanner.
The state-of-the-art machine, one of only three in Rhode Island, captures thousands of images in seconds and then feeds them to computers that convert them into precise 3-D images.
Health care providers can then virtually peel back skin, chisel away bone and see the internal blood flow throughout the body, making faster and more accurate diagnoses.
