Governor Almond appoints Girard R. Visconti to Judicial Nominating Commission

PROVIDENCE — Governor Lincoln Almond has named Girard R. Visconti as chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission.

Visconti, who replaces Robert Corrente, will serve his term until June 15, 2004. Visconti’s appointment did not require advice and consent of the Senate.

Visconti served one year as a member and vice chair of the commission beginning with the panel’s creation in June of 1994. He is senior partner with Visconti & Boren, Ltd., and a member of the Rhode Island and Massachusetts Bar Associations. He received his law degree from Suffolk University in 1968, and his undergraduate degree from Providence College in 1965. He and his wife, Christine Jabour Visconti, Esq., reside in Barrington.
