Statewide Corporations Database now on-line
PROVIDENCE – The Secretary of State’s office last week announced that it is making the Corporations Database available on line, through the Secretary of State’s On Line Office at www.state.rius. By selecting the “InfoLink” users will be able to search for corporate status, registered agent and address, officer-directors-partners, date of establishment, address of principal office, all activity history. Also available are scanned images of the 1999 and 2000 annual reports of business corporations and non-profits.
Andera forms alliance with venture capitalist
PROVIDENCE – Andera, an Internet strategy and development consulting firm said it is entering into a strategic alliance with Building2 Investments, a Boston and Tokyo based venture capital firm. Andera will be a preferred provider of e-commerce solutions to the venture capital firm’s portfolio of companies. Building2 is also making a $300,000 investment in the Providence company. Andera was founded in March by Charles Kroll and Taylor Coburn, with headquarters at 204 Westminster St. Kroll and Coburn said the company’s clients include Paolino Properties, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation and Brown University.

COVENTRY – Open Door Online, Inc., which trades publicly over the counter, last week announced first quarter sales of $425,741 and net earnings of $51,908. The company specializes in the sale, distribution and production of music and other entertainment related products by providing a wealth of original information in a personalized and interactive context, Open Door Online is creating an entertaining environment attracting consumers, musicians, and advertisers to Open Door Online, ultimately instilling brand awareness.”
ICSL announces contract after bankruptcy filing
PROVIDENCE – ICSL Network Management, a division of Innovative Clinical Solutions (OTC Bulletin Board: ICSL.OB) that provides management services to single and multi-speciality networks, said it has finalized a contract with Fallon Community Healthplan. ICSL will develop and manage a chiropractic network in the state of Massachusetts representing 67 chiropractors and more than 220,000 patients. The announcement came about a week after ICSL filed for Chapter 11 protection from creditors in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after two years of losses and inability to pay holders of $100 million in bonds.
The company, which changed its name from PhyMatrix Corp. last year, listed $75.7 million in assets and $149.2 million in debts in papers filed in U.S. Bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Del. More than 60 affiliates of Innovative also filed Bankruptcy Court petitions in Delaware.
Long Beach, Calif. Selects Nestor’s CrossingGuard
PROVIDENCE — Nestor Traffic Systems, Inc., an affiliate of Nestor, Inc. (OTC:NEST), announced last week that the City of Long Beach, Calif. has selected CrossingGuard(R), the Company’s video-based automated red light enforcement system, to combat the problem of red light running at three of the city’s high traffic intersections. The Long Beach City Council voted six to one in favor of CrossingGuard after evaluating proposals submitted by Nestor and several other automated enforcement vendors. The council, the company said, chose CrossingGuard based on its advanced video technology. CrossingGuard is the industry’s first automated enforcement solution to use video to monitor and detect violations, to record violation images, to transmit digital images electronically, and to issue citations.
DefendNet Solutions Partners with Trend Micro
PROVIDENCE – DefendNet Solutions Inc., a provider of total managed security solutions for the Internet, announced that it has partnered with Trend Micro Inc. (NASDAQ: TMIC) to deliver virus scanning services based on Trend Micro’s award-winning InterScan(R) VirusWall(R) technology. By incorporating Trend Micro’s InterScan antivirus software into its comprehensive suite of managed security offerings, DefendNet said it will enable its carrier partners to offer remotely managed gateway virus protection to their corporate customers.
Nortel Networks Announces $1.9 billion Investment
BOSTON /PRNewswire/ – Nortel Networks (NYSE/TSE: NT) unveiled a $1.9 billion investment to more than double its global Optical Internet production capacity over the next 18 months to meet explosive customer demand for its industry-leading Optical Systems and address opportunities in the high- growth Optical Components market. This follows $660 million of optical production capacity investments announced over the past nine months. Nortel Networks expects to create 9,600 new jobs in the United States, Northern Ireland, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia as part of this expansion. Of the $1.9 billion, $1.2 billion will be specifically allocated to expanding production capacity by 3.5 times in North America, United Kingdom, and Australia for open standards-based Optical components.
