U.S. home sales rose to a record in
the third quarter, with every state posting an increase for the
first time in 20 years, as people rushed to secure mortgage rates
near 45-year lows, the National Association of Realtors said.
Sales of existing single-family homes, condominiums and
cooperatively owned apartments gained 11 percent to 7.4 million
compared with 6.69 million in the previous quarter, outstripping
the record 6.7 million in the first three months of the year, the
Washington-based trade group said in a statement.
