Nicholas Janikies, owner of Jan Cos. of Cranston, won the auction for Newport Creamery in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for $1.55 million.
Janiklies bested Myrth York’s Creamery Acquisition Group and George Haseotes in the auction.
Jan Cos., which operates 77 Burger King stores and owns the rights to open 16 Krispy Kreme Donut stores in New England, plans to keep the Newport Creamery chain’s 12 locations open.
