Jessica Hill is a busy woman. She is the senior interior designer and project manager at Ed Wojcik Architect in Providence, heading the firm’s interior design division. At the same time, she is the owner and principal of Studio Hill, an interior design firm she founded in January 2006.
Before Hill’s arrival, Wojcik did not have an interior department; interiors were instead handled by architects. With the addition of Hill and a full interior design department, the firm has expanded. Hill specializes in institutional, commercial and affordable housing work for the firm, and the projects she has worked on include Highland Charter School/City Arts and the RISD Human Resources Department, both in Providence; Phoenix Academy, in the Pascoag section of Burrillville; and Barrington Christian Academy.
Studio Hill, on the other hand, shows a different side of Hill. The firm specializes in residential and commercial interior design and theatrical set designs, creating the interior design for residences in Providence, Barrington, Cumberland and North Attleboro. And Hill created set designs for “Top Girls” and “Sin” at the Sandra Feinstein Gamm Theatre in Pawtucket.
In her spare time Hill has volunteered for local arts institutions, including the Cumberland Company for the Performing Arts and the Encore Awards by the Arts and Business Council.
Hill also has served with the Interior Design Coalition of Rhode Island, which is seeking to create a formal licensing requirement for interior designers in the state, while at the same time studying to become LEED accredited. •
