John C. Warren, chairman and CEO of The Washington Trust Company and Washington Trust Bancorp, has been named the recipient of the 2004 Encore Award, presented by The Arts & Business Council of Rhode Island. Under Warren’s leadership, Washington Trust Bancorp acquired Pier Bank in 1999, Phoenix Investment Management in 2000 and First Bank and Trust in 2002. These acquisitions have helped position the bank as a statewide bank and as the largest independent bank headquartered in Rhode Island. Warren serves on the board of directors of the Business Development Company of Rhode Island and the Advisory Council of the Rhode Island Small Business Administration.
