John Smith has been named vice president and business development officer at Bank Rhode Island. Smith will be responsible for developing new relationships with Rhode Island businesses for deposit and lending products. Previously, Smith worked for Citizens Bank for more than 30 years and most recently served as vice president and senior business-banking officer. He has a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island. •
